How to Cook Black Walnut Meat

How to Cook Black Walnut Meat

Black walnuts on the tree If you've got access to a black
walnut tree, or a source of black walnuts, they taste
excellent when prepared correctly. This article explains how
to cook black walnut meat, suitable to be enjoyed on its
own, or as an accompaniment to dress up other food.

!! Ingredients !!

* Black walnut meat

* 1/2 tablespoon salt

* 2 teaspoons olive oil

* 2 pinches of steak seasoning

* Extra water to add so the meat doesn't stick to the pan

!! Steps !!

Extract the black walnut meat first using a nut pick After getting
the walnut meat out of the shells, put it together in a small bowl.

Turn on the stove to medium heat. Get out a small frying pan.

* Once the pan is heated up, place the walnut meat in and begin to
cook. Have your small wooden spoon handy to stir so the walnut
meat won't stick.

* Once the walnut meat starts to get a tint of color to it, add the
salt. By doing this now, you can ensure that it doesn't develop
too much of an overpowering taste, but will still ensure a good
flavor.

* Finish cooking the walnut meat. Occasionally add some water; this
will not only prevent sticking, but will help the meat stay nice
and juicy.

* Use with a meal if wished Take the walnut meat out and
put it on a small plate. Add whatever seasoning you want now –
it's best to add the seasoning right away, so the flavor sinks in.

!! Tips !!

* Try different spices and styles. This will add a unique sense of
taste to the snack.

* Try not to overcook the meat. It won't taste very good, and it is
a waste of time.

* If adding black walnuts to a recipe, be sparing as they have a
very strong taste; combining one part black walnuts with three
parts English walnuts will tone down the flavor.[1]

!! Warnings !!

* The walnuts will be hot, so let them cool before eating.
